Mom forever feels entitled to tell me what to do and thinks she's always right

I've recently moved out of state just over 2 weeks ago. Since forever, my mom is always the one making decisions at home. She always expect everyone to do things her way and if we don't, she'll keep criticizing or just complain that we don't listen to her. After my older sister got married and moved out, my mom still tells my sister how to do things, even with her kids, and how to decorate her home. When I first told my mom I have decided to move out of state with my boyfriend, she went ballistic. She has always criticized about my boyfriend, and now with the move, she basically hates my boyfriend. I promised her that I will call her everyday, and she was fine for awhile. She's now upset that I can't make it back for her birthday this coming Saturday. And since that, when I call her, she has that tone of attitude in her voice. If I don't call her, she'll be angry, but even when I call, she gives me this. I dont know what to do, nothing pleases her. And she'll always tell me what to do, like I need to wash clothes everyday (my boyfriend has a washing machine at home, but is just the two of us which doesn't require everyday use of the machine), what I should eat/cook, and basically generally everything. I feel like I'm still under her control even though I'm really not. My boyfriend's parents are so easy going and is not controlling like this. I wish my mom can be like that too.. via /r/AsianParentStories https://ift.tt/2FP5T25
