I have Mixed Feelings. ( Canadian )

First this is in Canada. So I had a run in today with some family. I dropped by my aunts house, where I normal put up Halloween decorations because I live in an apartment. lately one of my cousin's have moved into the basement, with her b/f, and children. the b/f is outside talking to his parents, and it seemed a little weird but I'm only going to be 2 minutes to drop some tomb stones and head home. turns out he's pretty fucked on drugs, and starts trying to get in a fight with everyone. then when I'm leaving he starts smashing the decorations I have there. I'm pretty chill about shit, but I just spent $70 on them, I say to him " so... do you just want the receipt for those?" because I had it in my pocket, and he could just pay me back later. he got pretty pissed and pulled a machete from his car....so turns out he was on a lot of drugs hit my cousin, who is his g/f, got kicked out of the house, broke back in, got kicked out again... and that's when I showed up not knowing anything. ended up calling the cops, it was a big show... there was a lot of them... none of the rest of my family who live there spoke to the police. none of them told them what happened before we had got there. so it ended up being either I charge him, or they let him go. him parents were lying about everything, saying there was no weapon, which the police ended up finding anyways. I gave a statement, he was arrested. So now the rest of my family want me to drop the charges against him, and say he's going to stay with his parents, and be forced to go into rehab for his drug problem.at this point is that still even an option? I was told an officer would be getting in contact with me again, so I could talk to him about it. but would it be possible to have a settlement instead where he really is forced to go to rehab?it's kind of an awkward spot I'm in now... via /r/legaladvice https://ift.tt/3mzLX2G
