Part 1|Previous|NextPulling up to the farm, Tyrannus opened the back car door, ripped off the black blanket, and growled, "Don't make this difficult. If you try anything funny on the way to the house, I will hurt you."Hannah tried to scream but was silenced by the tape."Alright, you need to cut it with this yelling shit! Stop making noise! I'm trying to be nice here, dammit. I could just knock you out, but I'm letting you stay conscious so you know there's nothing to be afraid of. But don't get any big ideas because we're on a farm—my land. No one will see you if you try anything, so just let me carry you in," Tyrannus yanked down the blanket, wrapped his arms around Hannah, and carried her inside the house.Even though it was a cold early spring day, the house had a thick, humid feel. A faint trace of formaldehyde hung in the air. Tyrannus unsheathed Hannah and sat her on a chair in a living room. She thought it would appear dilapidated, but she arched her brow. The room had just one chair and an upright wooden piano in the corner. The walls were painted bright blue, the coating had a shine with no dust. Even the wooden trim was well protected. A large window was in front of her, but it was covered by opaque white curtains. A free-standing lamp gave the room a pale glow.Hannah squirmed. Tyrannus stood in front of her, ripped off the tape, and untangled the ropes. Hannah gave him a barrage of kicks, but he caught her legs and gripped them until his nails dug in."Stop! Stop! I will hurt you more, but I don't want to, do you understand?" Tyrannus snarled and took a few deep breaths. Hannah clenched her fists. "Or maybe, yeah, perhaps maybe you just need a taste of the pain I can inflict on you," Tyrannus wrenched her ankle until she screamed.Hannah threw a haymaker at his face, he stumbled backward and clutch his nose. She paused and stared at him in disbelief, and then darted towards the exit where the door was covered in a labyrinth of pipes with a doorknob poking out. Jiggling the knob, nothing happened. Tyrannus came staggering from the living room, but Hannah flew upstairs."Fine!" Tyrannus yelled. "If you want to stay up there, you can. Your room is up there anyway. There's even your own bathroom attached! You’ll see, I'm not a total monster!"Hannah studied the hallway. The bright bubblegum pink color made her skin crawl. No paintings or any decorations hung on the walls. It was just three closed doors. She took a deep breath and slowed her pace. The first door on her left was locked. In the center, the door led to a pink bathroom with a bright green tub. The door on the right opened up, and she stepped inside. Please don’t be a pile of decaying corpses, she thought. The hairs stood on the back of her neck.It was perfectly normal.Flipping the switch on her right, the walls were bright orange, and a queen bed was in front of her. Over in the corner was another aged wooden door, she turned the ornate knob. Please don’t be a mountain of rats, she thought, but it was just a tiny bathroom—green tiles, with a pink tub.The door to her room slammed shut, and she jumped."You see that? There was no need to get violent! You're going to stay in there, understand me? I'll bring you three meals a day, and you just tell me what you need," Tyrannus took a few deep breaths. "Once Drac gets here, and I kill him, I'll let you go. That's the deal."Hannah glared at the door where Tyrannus' voice came through. His shadow still lingered underneath. She stepped over to the one window in the room covered by white curtains, and she lifted up the bottom. Hannah's heart sank. The window was covered with a sheet of steel. Scratching at the sides and pushing it forward, it didn't budge, just another extension of the wall.Hannah ran up to the door and cranked the knob, but it didn't turn. "Someone's going to get to you soon! If Drac doesn't, then my parents will! They're demon hunters, and you've picked the wrong girl to fucking kidnap!"Tyrannus still had his ear up to the door. Her words tied his stomach in knots. Lifting his head to the left, there was Fenny, leaning on the wall, puffing a long thick cigar."Is that true?" Tyrannus asked.Fenny nodded. "Yeah, you didn't know that? I thought I told you that bitch and her parents are the reason I'm dead.""Who are her parents?""Your boy Reynold, they're his best friends," Fenny chuckled."What's so fucking funny!" Tyrannus boomed. On the other side of the wall, Hannah scrunched her brow, closed her eyes, and held her ear up to her door."It's just a funny situation, is all," Fenny replied."Me avenging you is hilarious?" Tyrannus growled.Hannah heard no reply in between Tyrannus' responses."You not knowing who you captured. Might come back to bite you on the ass, that's all," Fenny shrugged.Tyrannus leaped at him and pummeled him, but the only thing Hannah heard was the sound of Tyrannus' fists bashing the wooden floor.***Lawrence and Catherine both had the same repulsed expression. Drac was ready to drop to the ground to avoid a throwing knife that Lawrence undoubtedly reached for in his coat pocket but froze."At ease..." Reynold stuck out his hands."What's happening? Talk—one of you. Cmon, let's go, out with it," Catherine took a step back as they continued to walk toward the couches."We're on the same side, I promise you," Drac said."Uh-huh, yeah, we're on the same side. Tell that to all the innocent lives you've killed from blood stealing, senseless criminal killings, and reaping souls for profit. Bull-fucking-shit, we're on the same side!" Lawrence barked."Okay, fine, you won't even hear me out. I don't need this," Drac spun around and strode to the exit."Wait! Stop!" Reynold hollered, throwing his arm in front of Drac as he reached the door."Do you think I'm going to sit around here and just take this verbal abuse from them? Nah, fuck that, they don't even care. But sure, they can strike a deal with Tyrannus."Reynold turned to Lawrence and Catherine. "Just hear what he has to say!""He said he never wanted to see either of us again, and we agreed! We moved homes because of him and we’re not going to do it again!” Lawrence yelled."We need his help because Tyrannus has Hannah!" Reynold shouted. It was like the air was sucked out of the room from a hole in an outer space aircraft. Lawrence and Catherine both plopped down in the leather couches behind them and stared forward, wide-eyed."Excuse me?" Catherine said as if she hoped she had just misheard him. It couldn't have been my Hannah. There are millions of Hannahs in the world. Maybe it's an acquaintance of Reynold’s, she thought."Your daughter was captured by Tyrannus," Reynold repeated."Impossible! How does he even know her?" Catherine voiced.Reynold gave Drac a look that said, 'take it from here, will ya?'Drac pulled out his phone and showed them the security footage. Drac explained that Hannah was staying at a hotel in Indianapolis that he owned."Why was she staying there!?" Lawrence erupted.Drac rolled his eyes. "Hannah and I are friends."Both Lawrence and Catherine's face twisted with rage."What do you mean you're friends?!" Lawrence pulled himself up with a cane's help and glared at Drac."Relax, will ya!" Drac hollered. "If you don't settle down, I will kick your ass. It's nothing nefarious. I treat her much like I would my own..." Drac's voice drifted away, but he twitched his head and focused again. "My own daughter."Lawrence and Catherine exchanged dumbfounded glances."How long has this been-""Cut the bullshit already," Drac interrupted Lawrence. "Your daughter is captured, you've seen the video, we gotta get a move on. There's no time to sit and interrogate me because, well, I don't think I really need to explain.""Let's go to Tyrannus' house then," Catherine said, standing up."We just came from there," Reynold answered."We have to go to his property he bought in Wisconsin," Drac said. The three of them shared apprehensive eyes. "We never heard of him going to Wisconsin," Lawrence said."You didn't know Tyrannus was in Indianapolis, and you didn't know Hannah and I stayed in touch. I can't believe anything surprises you still," Drac argued.Silence sat between them."What do you think he's done to her?" Lawrence said, and Drac let the question sit.He wanted to answer and confidently say, ‘Nothing, it's only a way to draw me in, don't worry about it,’ but he honestly didn't know the extent of evil Tyrannus was capable of."Don't let your imagination run wild. It's me he wants," Drac said. He couldn't tell if they believed him, but they decided they had no other choice. "Come on, let's head out of here."They all piled in Reynold’s Rolls-Royce ghost, and Drac sat in the backseat with Catherine. Reynold floored it down the stretch of an empty road early in the morning, just as the sun was rising."How do you know for sure he's taking her there?" Lawrence asked.Drac's phone buzzed, and he saw it was a call coming from Abby. "Whattya know, we're about to find out for certain," he swiped to answer it. "Hey.""Hey, I drove by his place, and I definitely see his car on the farm.""What? Really? That's good! ..." noticing Lawrence and Catherine directing their attention to his phone call, Drac cleared his throat. "Good in the sense that we know he's at the farm for sure.""Yeah, he's there. I'm going back to Milwaukee now.""What?! Wait, you can't go just yet. You have to stay there and make sure he doesn't leave. And if he does, you have to tell me!""Are you crazy?""No, please, Abby, just help me out here. There's nothing I hate more than asking for favors. If I can do it myself, I will, but it's going to take us a couple of hours to get up there. We're just leaving Chicago now!""Not only do I have shit to do back in Milwaukee, but I'm not camping outside here all day waiting for you with Marcia in the car. She's terrified of him... Understandably so.""So you brought her after all? At least she knows where he is," Drac said."I don't think she's comforted by the fact they're in the same state. —Wait, what?" Abby stopped talking. Drac pressed his ear to the receiver and heard sounds of someone shuffling around in a car, followed by a couple of beeps from the dashboard. "Marcia! Marcia, get back here!""Abby, what happened?" Drac asked, panic rising in his chest.Scuffling came from the receiver, Drac heard a car shut off and the door slam."Marcia's gone rogue! I'll call you back later!" Abby ended the call.Drac sat there frozen, rage quietly building in his head. "Can you take this car any fucking faster?""Drac, I'm going 110 right now, I don't know what you want from me!" Reynold shot back."What happened?" Catherine asked, a delicateness to her tone that Drac hadn't heard from her before."A friend of mine stormed Tyrannus' house. Good news is she might save your daughter. Bad news, I don't think she planned out a well-thought-out attack. Which could end disastrously for her. But above all else, Hannah should be safe. Just keep it in your head that it's only me that Tyrannus wants."Thank you for reading, I love reading your comments, they make the experience way more enjoyable. Also, I'm on Patreon.
