part 1Check out part one for some back story. But just to clarify why Leah is still breathing at this point. Our grandmother is very much the boss of our family. She has one golden rule the family sticks together no matter what. You don’t have to like each other but you have to stick together . This will come into play in part 3.My grandmother raised her sisters. They are her children. My aunts and uncles couldn’t rise up fully against lean and her siblings for fear of upsetting our grandmother.I’m not going to get into the details but to my grandmother family is sacred and for 35 years of her life someone prevented her from being with her family. We never want her to be in that position again. She 95 currently. We won’t cause her any pain.H&H always only blamed themselves for everything that happened and would have been crushed to cause a divide in the family. They are pure and naive so must be protected at all costs. Currently my parents zoom them once a week and beg them to stop going out with COVID about. Also Leahs mother, my nanas sister is a lovely woman too well call her Mary. When my nana turned 90 Mary decided she wanted to visit my nana in Ireland. This has happened before so it was all good. Until leah wanted to come along. She wanted to “visit her Irish roots and relatives” translation she expects us to live in mud huts and have no running water. Leah is hella rich she lives in the fancy part of London. She got married (for tax reasons not love) in the shard. She’s loaded. My family might not be rich to the same level but we are well off. Upper middle class. However none of my wealthier family members are bling bling. They’re very practical with money and buy things that are sturdy that will last so on the outside people might not think they’re wealthy. They’re not cheap and are very generous but they don’t throw money about. And even if we were “poor” she’s still a condescending arse. Her arrival brought issues. While the farmhouse was suitable for Mary when she stayed, my nana thought that since Leah was coming we should upgrade her to one of our houses. My nanas house is lovely just very old decor. So nana asked her children. My aunts and uncles and dad were still furious over the events in part 1 this was about 10 years later. We hold a grudge. Every single one of the families refused. They also started retracting their offers of having Mary for dinner. And so began the uprising of 2015.My aunts and uncles banned together and came to an agreement. No one was to even speak to Leah when she came. My nana was furious. This was breaking the golden rule. She tried shaming them, she tried the cold shoulder so eventually she pulled her trump card. She gently reminded them that she was 90. This might be her last chance to see her sister. We couldn’t fight that. Spoiler: she hasn’t aged since she was 70 she’s still going strong at 95.The clan gave in. They would host dinners but she couldn’t stay. At the eldest aunts (the next in line to the throne) Leah was perfectly polite. Eldest aunt is a headmistress so I don’t think she has a choice. The oldest son was a bachelor who was excused from hosting duties. The next son married a Lords daughter. Again Leah was on her best behaviour. Then she came to our house. She was surprised that a girl of so little circumstance like my sister (we went to the equivalent of a private school we are not hard done by) could be so well traveled. She was amazed the nhs workers could own a house like this. Etc etc. Snotty comments left right and centre. When she left my dad phoned his siblings. Leah had officially landed. At the next house she asked if she could take a look around and then used my aunts shower without asking. At the house after that she did something so awful that my aunt wouldn’t tell us. She skipped the family farm and asked if we could take her out to a restaurant instead. By the end of the week they all swore she would never ever enter our homes again even in the homes she had behaved in she had used back handed compliments. The aunts, who were the ones who broke first with my nana, even declared that even for funerals she would never be allowed back. No one has recieved a clan ban before.Leah brought my nana nice soaps as a host present. Which was lovely. On the last day she open one of my nanas cupboards and found her stockpile of soaps. Leah decided that her soaps would be a burden to my nana AND TOOK THEM BACK. Yes you read that right she stole soap from a 90 year old woman. I’m pretty sure she is a millionaire. And she stole soap from my nana. Finally it was time to drop her off at the airport. My quietest most even tempered uncle had that duty. The rest were throwing darts at her picture. He got Mary out of the car and helped Leah with her luggage as they said goodby he said “don’t worry helping with the luggage won’t be an extra charge. Well send the bill for the week though as soon as possible. Have a safe flight”. Apparently she couldn’t even look at him as she scurried away.
