I'm 6'6" tall and when sitting with proper posture it is still absolutely, neck-breakingly awful to watch TV for any amount of time with this kind of setup. Any time I visit someone's home where this is their decorative choice, I'm reminded of walking into a movie theatre where the only seats available are in the front row on the floor. Nope, nope, nope, fuck that, I'm out. Unless you plan to stand and watch your television, it makes zero ergonomic sense. However, it seems to be such a common theme that homebuilders even design little alcoves above the mantel to house your electronics.
