Halloween Through the Ages [Halloween 2020]

It took me a while to notice at first.Every subsequent house I visited seemed slightly less modern, every decoration seemed slightly less high tech. I just assumed that this was an older part of the nieghbourhood, and the people reflected that lifestyle. It was the clothes that finally led me to realize what was happening. At first it was the y2k fashion, then the 80s, then conservative dresses. It wasn't until people started wearing ball gowns and handing out small caramel toffees that I noticed what had happened.I was trick or treating through time.Every door was a year into the past, the changes subtle at first, but more obvious as time went on. I tried everything to avoid travelling to the next door but it was no use. I was in the world's slowest time machine.I figured I had only 2000 years of human history to travel through before I returned to modern day, and after weeks of nonstop walking through different time periods, I made it to year zero. Tears of joy streamed down my face as I ran to the next door, praying that it would resemble my own.But the next house was almost identical to the last.I went through months more of trick or treating, through millions of years B.C. The houses grew sparse and soon barely even resembled houses at all. I started walking for hours just to find an inhabited cave, running for my life as pre-human creatures screamed at me and chased me off. It's been weeks since I visited tthe last cave. I know the inevitable day will soon come when there are no humans left and I pray that I return home before then. via /r/shortscarystories https://ift.tt/3jLFG2j
